No, the Rhythm Method is based on calculations relating to menstruation,
which is a movable occasion which does not pinpoint fertility.

Is the Billings Ovulation Method the same as the
Temperature Method
No, the Temperature Method is a post ovulatory method, temperature rises
due to the elevation of the hormone progesterone, and this is a retrospective
indication that ovulation has occurred. It cannot be used when breast-feeding
or in a pre-menopause situation.

How much scientific research has been carried out
on the Method
The B.O.M. has been the subject of the most comprehensive scientific
research to which any method of regulating births has been exposed.
It has also proved its efficiency in providing for the achievement of
pregnancy and for the spacing of pregnancies by numerous field trials
in different countries. One such study was a huge study of the B.O.M.
amongst the poor and illiterate in the slums of Calcutta, where B.O.M.
was taught as a method to avoid pregnancy, pregnancy rates approached
zero.

When learning, the couple are asked to abstain for two weeks and then
review with their teacher. This is usually sufficient to establish a
